Since you can not buy pre-made velvet canvases, I stretch my velvet over stretcher bars. Your painting starts with me putting the stretcher bars together and cutting the velvet to size.

I then fold it over the stretcher bars and carefully staple it down. This is based on the traditional method of canvas stretching.

After I make the drawing of your requested image, I transfer that drawing onto the velvet. That's when the magic begins.
